6/25/08 Meeting moves to Biennial Schedule At the 2007 meeting it was decided that BME-IDEA would move to an every-other-year schedule. Thus, the next meeting will be held in conjunction with the 2009 BMES meeting in Pittsburgh, PA in October, 2009. See you then!

10/9/07 Meeting Slides Posted. All slides from the 2007 BME-IDEA meeting are now available on the meeting page. Also, notes from the Global workshop are available.

7/20/06 - Meeting, Contest funded by National Science Foundation
We are pleased to announce that the NSF has agreed to fund both the BME-IDEA meeting and contest this year. Thanks to Semahat Demir for her support as Program Officer.

6/15/06 - Meeting Agenda Posted
The Meeting agenda for the Chicago BME-IDEA meeting in October is now available on the meeting page. Should be a great event. Invitations should go to universities within the next few weeks.

6/06 - BME-IDEA Contest Winners Announced

10/05 - Slides posted from BME-IDEA Meeting
Slides presented at the Sept 28 BME-IDEA meeting in Baltimore, MD have been uploaded to the meeting page.

9/05 - bmesource, bme-idea big hit at Council of Chairs
We presented to the BME Council of Chairs on Wednesday evening at the BMES meeting both the portal and the contest. The CoC voted to support the contest and when a sign-up sheet for bmesource was circulated over 30 chairs indicated they would assist in some way.

7/05 - BME-IDEA Contest Winners Announced
NCIIA announced the winners of the first BME-IDEA contest. See article on the MedicalDeviceLink website: Competition Showcases Student Product Innovation. Winners were 1st Place: Stanford University; 2nd Place: Johns Hopkins University; 3rd Place: Washington University St. Louis.

1/05 -- Data Posted
In preparation for the Whitaker Summit Meeting (March 2005), we have collected a listing of all BME programs which document a design component. This may include courses offered in design, documentation about the goals of the program that speak of design, or research foci that includes design. Download the PDF of the listing - includes 93 programs.

1/05 -- Portal
bmesource.org, our online portal, is now in full swing with twenty-five universities actively participating and more to come. Please check out the site: http://www.bmesource.org/. There are over 8000 links already!

10/04 -- Contest
The BME Design contest that has been discussed at our last two meetings is now open. The contest is jointly sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA), BME Council of Chairs and the Medical Design Excellence Awards (from Medical Device and Diagnostics Industry).

Details about the contest are posted on the NCIIA website. We also have the ppt slide presentation about the contest from our Oct 04 meeting posted.
