Call for Abstracts 

Biomedical Engineering – Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Alliance
2007 Workshop

The BME-IDEA workshop will be held at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, CA on Wednesday September 26, 2007, the day before the Annual BMES meeting. As with earlier BME-IDEA working meetings, we will invite all BME departments/programs to send one representative.  No fees are charged the participating institutions.

The theme of the 2007 meeting will be “Innovations in Teaching Design and Entrepreneurship”. A session called “Innovation Snap Shots” will showcase 5-10 minute vignettes of teaching innovations selected by a review panel. All abstracts will be presented at a poster session. Possible innovations might include:

• unique methods to identify needs,
• effective ways of selecting and managing teams,
• team building to inspire creativity,
• new information-search techniques,
• ethics in practice,
• building effective communication skills,
• making the regulatory process real and interesting, and
• funding and clients.

The vignettes/poster presentations will be collected and mounted on the BME-IDEA.org web site to motivate design/innovation/entrepreneurship education initiatives in BME programs worldwide.

The deadline for submitting an abstract is June 15, 2007. The authors will be notified by July 15, 2007 whether they have been selected for a platform or poster presentation.

Abstracts – 500 words or less – can be submitted online.
