- Faculty Lunch with Prof. Vitousek: Thursday, November 12, 12:00-1:00pm, Gilbert 115
Professor Peter Vitousek will be here to chat with students in an informal setting over lunch (yes, that means lunch will be provided!) This is a great opportunity to learn about Prof. Vitousek's research and how he got to where he is now, not to mention the fact that it's just fun to have lunch with a faculty member. Please RSVP to Maddie Graber at mgraber [at] stanford [dot] edu and let us know if you are a vegetarian. Attendance will be limited to the first 20 people who respond.
- BioCore Midterm Cookies: Thursday, November 5, after the midterm, Hewlett
BioBridge will provide cookies outside Hewlett for you to enjoy after you finish your second Bio 41 midterm. Wahoo!
- Pumpkin Fest: Friday, October 30, 12:30-2:30pm at the Merck Green (grassy area between Gilbert and Herrin)
Get ready for some fun when the Department of Biology holds its annual PumpkinFest! The Biology labs have created some amazing pumpkins in the past and they will definitely not disappoint this year either!
FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED.

- Science Grad School Info Session: Wednesday, October 14, 4:00-6:00pm, Gilbert 115
Want to go to graduate school in a science field? Not sure how to do it? Come get your questions answered! Get information about: how to find a school that is right for you, Applying for fellowships (such as NSF), Assembling your graduate school application, and Making yourself a competitive applicant. Guest Speakers include Professor Dominique Bergmann, Department of Biology; Brian Thomas, Senior Associate Director, U.A.R.; several current PhD students in the Biosciences.
- Hopkins Marine Station Information Session: Wednesday, October 14, 1:15-2:30pm, Gilbert 115
Want to take small classes with interesting professors while living 5 minutes away from the beach in Monterey, CA? Consider spending winter quarter at Hopkins Marine Station-- applications are due Friday 11/13! This info session will feature Professor Mark Denny and some Hopkins student alum. Food will be provided! Check out http://hopkins.stanford.edu for more information about the Station and other classes offered next quarter!

- Bio Honors Info Session: Thursday, October 8, 6:15-8:05pm, Herrin T-175
Informational, mandatory meeting for students doing honors and graduating in 2010. If you’re a Senior interested in graduating with Honors in Biology in 2010, come learn what’s needed and what’s not. Remember, you DON’T need to do a Field of Study in order to graduate with Honors, but you DO need to be in the Honors Program to graduate with a Field of Study!
- BioCore Info Session: Monday, September 21 and Friday, September 25, 12:15-1:05pm, Hewlett 200
Want to find out more about the BioCore? Come to this info session immediately following lecture during the first week of the quarter. BioCore professors, Coordinator, former students, and the Biology Undergrad Advisor will be present to give information about the Core and answer any questions you might have. If you are not sure whether to take Bio or Humbio Core, this is a session you don't want to miss! Sessions are a repeat - you only need to go to one of them.
