about all the resources CDC can offer you, get great advice about
navigating toward the future (and Laura comes with cookies!)
- Hopkins Marine Station Information Session: Wednesday,
October 26, 7:00pm, Old Union 215
Want to go to graduate school in a science field? Not sure how to do it?
Come get your questions answered! Get information about: how to find a
school that is right for you, applying for fellowships (such as NSF), assembling
your graduate school application, and Making yourself a competitive
applicant. Guest Speakers include Professor Dominique Bergmann,
Department of Biology; Brian Thomas, Senior Associate Director, U.A.R.; several
current PhD students in Biology.
- Pumpkin Fest: Monday,
October 31, 12:30-2:00pm at the Merck Green (grassy area between Gilbert
and Herrin)
get ready for some fun when the Department of Biology holds its annual
PumpkinFest! The Biology labs have created some amazing pumpkins in the
past and they will definitely not disappoint this year either!
FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED.
You don't want to miss this great opportunity to meet faculty, grad
students, and your fellow undergraduates in the Biology.
- Trip to Hopkins Marine Station: Friday, Nov 4,
12:30pm-8:00pm
Are you interested in marine biology? Taking small classes with amazing,
enthusiastic professors? Studying off-campus for a quarter? Or just
spending a Friday afternoon by the beach in gorgeous Monterey? Come see
what Hopkins Marine Station is all about! We’ll leave Stanford for
Monterey around 12:30, take a tour of the station, explore the tide
pools and aquarium, and have a chance to talk with professors and
students. We’ll be back on campus by 8pm (we’ll provide lunch AND
dinner). Anyone is welcome! Any class, any major--not only Bio majors

- Faculty Lunch with Prof. Watt Ward: Monday, November
14, 12:15-1:15pm, Gilbert 117
Professor Watt Ward will be here to chat with students in an informal
setting over lunch (yes, that means lunch will be provided!) This is a
great opportunity to learn about Prof. Watt’s career path, how he got to
where she is now, not to mention the fact that it's just fun to have
lunch with a faculty member. Interested? Please RSVP to Tina Zheng at
zhengt [at] stanford [dot] edu and let us know if you are a vegetarian.
Attendance will be limited to the first 20 people who respond.
