Multicellular organisms coordinate cell growth, division and cell fate to generate organs of characteristic shape and identity. In plants, control of cell identity and patterning can be conveniently addressed by studying stomatal development as model. In my project I am using cell type-specific expression profiling and epigenetic analysis of stomatal lineage cells to identify regulatory networks and mechanism determining cell fate and commitment.
