The Beagle II award, given annually, goes to undergraduate students of any major who design an exciting metaphorical "voyage of discovery" to help to make sense of this world (modeled of course after Darwin).

The Department of Anthropology is pleased to offer the Beagle II Awards for the summer of 2009, open to Stanford undergraduates of all years and majors. Awards of up to $6000, or shared awards of up to $9000, will be made to the best two or three proposals for a summer "voyage" of scientific discovery to any appropriate location in the world.

Awards will be announced in March, 2009.
