There are three 20-gallon salt-water aquariums
full of fish currently in the Barron Lab, and a new 55-gallon salt-water aquarium has just
been installed. These provide diversion and beauty to the lab, and also give students
something to stare at while they are thinking deep thoughts about their research projects.
Among our many fish, including clowns and a very special green-spot Mandarin Goby, are the
three pictured here, a Hawaiian triggerfish (in Hawaii, this is called a "Humuhumu nukunuku apua'a"),
and two Pacific Porcupine pufferfish. The puffers in particular (named Big Puffy and
Little Puffy) have a deplorable excess of personality (and are always hungry). |
