Tianli Chu
Tianli is a first year graduate student in Management Science and Engineering. Before coming to Stanford, he spent three years in Texas playing badminton and, when he got the time, studying Electrical Engineering a little bit. He enjoys almost every sport that does not requires a helmet, especially soccer, swimming and badminton. He also likes music and traveling. His favorite badminton player is Xuanze Xia.

Jamie Funamura
Jamie is a junior majoring in Human Biology, with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. Her other home (besides Stanford) is in Stockton, CA, where she grew up with her parents and two brothers. When not playing badminton, she can be found PHEing in Serra and tooling around at her various jobs. Her life goals include finding the two identical penmen and learning how to fit in time for sleep with everything else.

Oren Shiran
Oren is a graduate student working towards a PhD. He has been playing badminton since his freshman year in high school. Oren got his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, and played on the team there for three years. In addition to playing badminton, Oren loves to snowboard, ski, and pretty much play any sport. At Stanford, he is trying to work hard and spend most of his time hanging out with friends.

Jay Simon
Jay has a masters in Management Science & Engineering and a bachelors in Mathematical & Computational Science, both from Stanford. He has been playing badminton since his freshman year. He is originally from Long Island, but now lives in the heart of Mountain View, not too far from Stanford. He will play just about any sport, and has been particularly devoted to wrestling and baseball in the past. His hobbies also include watching movies, hanging out with friends, watching The Simpsons (best show ever!), and being a hardcore Met fan. He is also the creator of the
best site ever created for beer drinkers. Or check out his personal website!

Noah Veltman
(2001-2002) Noah is a sophomore without a decided major; options currently being considered include, but are not limited to, computer science, history, and STS, but he may leave early for the NBA draft. He grew up in Menlo Park, which lumps him with just about everyone else on the team as a local (in fact, my house can be seen in some of the aerial postcards of Stanford available at the bookstore). He lives in Serra where he's finally started to get enough sleep.

Catherine Wong
Catherine, our treasurer, returns to the team this year a little older, a little less clueless, but non the wiser. She is officially majoring in biomedical computation, but is still trying to pursue her varying other academic interests in international relations, math, racial and ethnicity studies, and music in a coherent, cohesive manner. Before high school Catherine had no idea badminton existed. Since joining the team her freshman year of high school, however, she has become a die-hard badminton fanatic. When not on the court, Catherine enjoys torturing herself by taking a million and a half classes. She also enjoys making a fool of herself by trying her hand at sports she obviously cannot do (snow boarding, surfing, golfing, water-skiing, etc) Her other interests include playing tennis, playing piano, eating (yumm), and traveling.
