Lab Jobs

Ordering

Ordering is now done by each individual, by entering orders on the Filemaker Pro spreadsheet on Lagunitas. Be sure to put your name in the person ordering column. If the item is to be used primarily by yourself, leave the next column blank. If it is a general item to be used by most people in the lab, write "shared" in the next column.

Job 3

Balances and pH meter: clean inside and around the balances and pH meter. Assure that the chemical storage area is orderly. Make sure spatulas are washed and returned to storage. Check supplies of weigh papers and boats and order if necessary. Make sure there is adequate buffer in the pH probe and that sufficient pH standards are present.

Job 4:

Periodic self inspections: Jeff will forward self inspection materials to you to complete and return to Karen Kunkel.

Radiation

Radiation duty will be performed by the person or people using radioactivity until we go back on inactive status.

Waste: check if the containers are full. If they are, fill out the disposal request form and fax to EHS for pickup. However, make sure that ALL THE NUMBERS ON THE DISPOSAL FORM ADD UP TO THE NUMBERS ON THE DAILY USAGE LOG SHEETS.

Users of radioactive material are responsible for keeping an accurate record of their usage. Also, when the liquid P32 waste fills up, the user should pour the liquid into the cement kit and make sure it solidifies before disposal into the solid waste container.

Surveys: perform routine surveys and record. Assure radiation records are properly maintained.

When you will not be using additional radiation for some time, put us back on inactive status.
