Welcome to the homepage of the Stanford Wind Energy Project.

The Stanford Wind Energy Project is a student group concerned with wind monitoring and wind power in and around the Stanford area.

We formed in the fall of 2006 under the guidance of Dr. Mark Z. Jacobson, director of the Atmosphere / Energy group in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Stanford University.

We collect, analyze, and disseminate wind data from various spots on campus including: the dish, the Stanford weather station, the Grounds Department weather station, and the top of Xanadu.

Current News
- Finalized data from the Dish Station, Jasper Biological Preserve, and the first three months at Xanadu are now available online.
- We recently put an anemometer up on the roof of Quillen. Test data from the first week as available here.
- We are currently looking at potential anemometer sites to gather more data. These sites include: the Meyer Library and the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve.
- We are pleased to report that we have been granted the funding to acquire a large meterological tower. We are looking into both our siting and technology options.
