STANFORD ARCHERY

The Stanford Archery Program offers private one-on-one coaching lessons open to the general public and the Stanford community. Coaching sessions with either the top, most experienced archers on Stanford's nationally competitive team or with Stanford's Head Coach and U.S. Olympic Team coach Sheri Rhodes (see Meet the Coaches).

Whereas typical archery lessons--particularly those for beginners and teenagers--match a single teacher with up to 20 archers, the Stanford team designates one coach for each student. (For more information, see Our Coaching Program below.) Because private coaching sessions are held on the team's official practice range, archers may also have the opportunity to observe Stanford's championship team as it trains for its next competition.

Archers of all ages and experience levels--from young beginners to adults--are welcome and encouraged to come. High quality Olympic-style equipment is provided for those who do not have their own.

Who: Open to the public, ages 7 and up welcome
Where: Stanford Campus, Athletic fields along El Camino Real.

For upcoming confirmed coaching dates see the Calendar -- also feel free to email us if no lesson dates are listed on the Calendar (this does not mean there are no lessons offered).

Our Coaching Program

Coaching sessions are tailored to each individual and are appropriate for adults as well as young beginners. With adults, teenagers and more experienced shooters we typically work on specific muscle exercises and special drills designed to improve form, increase accuracy, and tighten arrow groups. With beginners we focus mostly on the basics and develop correct shooting form. On-site digital video recording can be used to help archers pinpoint trouble spots.
