Stanford University
Dear Dr. Fearon:
I am writing to complain about Professor Rice's appearance yesterday,
Wednesday, March 18, on PBS's Charlie Rose show, which included
this exchange:
RICE: No one was arguing that Saddam Hussein somehow had
something to do with 9/11.
ROSE: No one.
RICE: I was certainly not. The President was certainly not....
That's right. We were not arguing that.

However, on September 15, 2002, Dr. Rice told Fox News that
Saddam Hussein had, "links to terrorism [that] would include al-Qaeda."

And in September 2006, she said, "there were ties going on between
Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's regime going back for a decade."

The Central Intelligence Agency's July 2004 report entitled,
"Intelligence and Analysis on Iraq: Issues for the Intelligence
Community," by R.J. Kerr, et al., disagrees, -- Ref:

-- as does the Institute for Defense Analyses's 2008 report by
K.M. Woods and J. Lacey -- Ref.:

Do I have your personal assurance that this matter will be dealt with
in a manner respectful of academic integrity and without regard to
Dr. Rice's previous position of authority with the university? It is
clear that such blatant falsehoods -- be they intentional or due to
psychological repression -- put the reputation of the department and
the university at risk.
Thank you for your consideration of this complaint. I will follow up with
a telephone call to your 725-1314 number in a few days time.
Sincerely, ....
