On October 3rd we have some very important meetings. First, at 7pm, we'll be having an All-SAC leadership and instructors meeting, and then at 8pm we will have the general SAC info meeting for fall quarter. If you are not going to be instructing a trip with SAC this year, and just want info on what's lined up for SAC fall quarter, come to the 8pm meeting, and all questions will be answered. The 7pm meeting is very important - it is mandatory for all SAC leadership and everyone who wants to coordinate and help lead and instructional trip with SAC this year. The agenda for the meeting will be as follows: 1) Info about a new opportunity that Joe (SAC Treasurer) and I have been working on to give prodeals to people who instruct a certain number of days of SAC trips during the year. In the past, SAC has had prodeals for gear that is bought for the club, but this is the first year that we may be able to offer individual instructors prodeals on gear. For those who don't know what prodeals are, they are sweet. Basically a company (like Trango or Metolius) will agree to give a club or the instructors from that club a big discount (ie, 40 or 50% off) on brand new gear. The difference between this year and last is that we may be able to secure prodeals through the Stanford Outdoors umbrella organization. 2) Also through Stanford Outdoors, (and with the Redwood Club) SAC will be offering a limited number of spaces to instructors in a heavily subsidized WFR course to be run during Spring break. This is an awesome opportunity, as WFR courses normally cost around $1000, and we may be able to offer it for around $200. 3) Safety on official SAC trips. It has come to our attention that our safety policies on instructional trips may not be sufficient. We will talk about how we can improve safety on instructional trips, and place more of an emphasis on safe climbing practices in our instructing. Alright thats all thats on the agenda. If you have something that you think should be on there, send me an e-mail. The 7pm meeting is very important, and if you have any desire to get in on the prodeals and/or WFR class, you must attend this meeting! As always, if you have comments/suggestions/questions, send me an e-mail.
