Matterhorn Peak is the high point of the rugged Sawtooth Ridge and is located on the northeast border of Yosemite NP, but the approach/climb is in Hoover Wilderness. The route will be the East Couloir, which provides snow slopes of around 40 degrees requiring ice axe/crampons. There is a party size limit in this region, so if you are interested, let me know at pantilat AT stanford.edu soon. The pace will be on the faster side, so appropriate physical conditioning is needed. Also, please indicate whether you have a car, gear, etc. The drive will be made via Sonora Pass either Friday early afternoon (around 2 pm) or Saturday early morning. If the weather forecast changes, this trip will be the following weekend. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. Leor
