Paper: "Presence and Integration of Adolescent Self and Beyond-the-Self Oriented Life Goals"
In this paper study we are looking at the life goal of "career aspiration." We have two main research questions. The first is to simply find out to what extent young people have career aspirations which they intend to benefit the world beyond the self. The second is to explore which adolescents have beyond-the-self-oriented vs. self-oriented reasons for their career. Are they males, females, of a certain age, ethnic group or social class? Are they more likely to be developing optimally, or are they more likely to have a sense that their life has a purpose?
