Dear Students,
As the Alcohol and Drug Educator and Chair of the Stanford Alcohol Advisory Board, I oversee many aspects of alcohol education, early intervention and policy issues. Most of my work involves empowering and educating students to make good decisions by fostering a community where students look out for one another and act responsibly to prevent alcohol-related problems.
Each year many students here at Stanford and across the nation are profoundly affected by alcohol-related problems. We are all too familiar with the tragedies that have occurred when sound judgement is clouded by alcohol. Your health and well-being are our primary priority.
While most students make responsible decisions when dealing with alcohol, the Alcohol Advisory Board has developed this handbook, "What's Your Policy?", to help promote a healthy environment. This guide was written by students for students and we are ever grateful to Moses Pounds ('04) and Eric Wong ('03) for their work on this project. Also, I would like to thank Adi Berlia ('05) for his assistance on the online version of this guide.
We hope this handbook can serve to demystify many notions regarding alcohol and it role at Stanford. Working together we can continue to make your years at Stanford the best experience possible.
In Health,
