In Meiosis II individual chromosomes are now pulled apart and randomly separated into the two daughter cells. The end result of Meiosis I and II is a random assortment of genes from each chromosome pair in the somatic cell. Each cell has one of each chromosome from the "normal" 2C starting cell. [In this example each cell gets one long and one short chromosome]
