Post-Doctoral Fellow BS, Peking University, P.R.China The release of neurotransmitters is thought to arise from two modes of fusion events: full-collapse fusion followed by clathrin-mediate endocytosis (CME) and kiss-and-run (K&R) fusion followed by rapid vesicle reuse. The molecules involved in CME have been extensively characterized. In sharp contrast, the molecules underlying the K&R mode of fusion remain largely unknown. By combining a single vesicle tracking technique with various methods of molecular perturbation, I hope to identify molecules important for controlling the K&R mode of fusion |
