Rebecca Slayton holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University. In addition to being a Lecturer for the STS Program, she is also an Affiliate of the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford.

Her research has examined how technical judgments are generated, taken up, and given significance in international security contexts. She teaches the following courses for the STS Program:

Slayton is currently working on a book which uses the history of the U.S. ballistic missile defense program to study the relationships between and among technology, expertise, and the media.
