Each spring quarter, Stanford in Government teams up with the ASSU Speakers Bureau to host a speaking event on campus with a prominent public figure.  This past year featured Madelaine Albright, former Secretary of State.

Past speakers have included:

Pervez Musharraf was President of Pakistan from 2001-2008.

Madeleine Albright (May 27, 2008):

Madeleine Albright was Secretary of State for President Bill Clinton from 1997-2001.  She is also the first female to serve in this position in US history.

Gen. Wesley Clark (ret.) (May 24, 2007):

Gen. Wesley Clark ran for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2004 and was the Supreme Commander of NATO in Europe until 2000.

L. Paul Bremer (April 19, 2005)

L. Paul Bremer was the head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq from 2003 to 2004, which placed him in charge of reconstructing Iraq’s civil administration before it was handed over to the Iraqi people.  He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in late 2004.
