These are some questions you can ask employers to assess how socially responsible the company is. • How is your company socially responsible?
• What role do you feel the company plays in the local/global community?
• Does your company contribute to charities or schools?
• How do your products or services make the world a better place?
• Do you encourage community service or have community service programs for employees?
• How much money does your company spend on political contributions/lobbying expenditures?
• You can find this information at the Center for Responsive Politics, but you may want to ask a company representative as well...

• Does your company recycle?
• Do you use recycled materials in the office?
• Are your products environmentally safe?  Energy effecient?
• How much pollution/waste/toxins/greenhouse gasses/etc are created in the manufacture of your products?
• Would you consider the company to be environmentally friendly?

• Are employees allowed to join or form unions?
• Can employees take time off to do community service?
• Are your buildings wheelchair accessable?
• Do you use labor overseas to manufacture products?
• Is the work subcontracted?
• Where are these factories located?
• Are the conditions in these factories monitored to ensure workers are paid livable wages, kept in safe working conditions, treated properly (no sexual harassment, abuse, etc)?  If so how?
• Does your company have a policy encouraging diversity among employees?
• What is the proportion of men:women in the company?  In managerial positions?
• What is the proportion of minorities in the company?  In managerial positions?
