LOCAL STANFORD FACULTY DEVELOPMENT FOR MEDICAL TEACHERS

The Stanford Faculty Development Center for Medical Teachers (SFDC) conducts local programs for different groups of Stanford University Medical Center faculty and residents. Each year, faculty development seminars on topics related to clinical teaching and professionalism in contemporary practice, are conducted by those faculty who are undergoing training to become SFDC facilitators. These seminars are offered to small groups of Stanford faculty, fellows, and residents at the end of the training months.

Workshops on clinical teaching have been conducted for local groups of community-based faculty in internal medicine and pediatrics, and minority faculty. Each year, the Clinical Teaching seminars are offered to all second year residents in the Department of Medicine. These seminars have been conducted by Drs. Kelley Skeff, Georgette Stratos, Paul Ford, Matilde Nino-Murcia, and Elliott Wolfe.

In addition to these seminars, the Stanford Faculty Development Center conducts teaching improvement workshops for basic science and clinical faculty with support from the Stanford University School of Medicine.
