The Palumbi Lab includes students and post-doctoral fellows actively engaged in study of the genetics, evolution, population biology and systematics of a diverse array of marine and terrestrial organisms.

Steve is currently interested in the design and implementation of Marine Protected Areas. His latest book Marine Reserves: An Ecosystem Tool for Marine Management and Conservation, a publication of the Pew Oceans Commission, was released in December 2002. Another recent publication by Steve is about evolution generated by human ecological change entitled The Evolution Explosion. The book is published by Norton and is currently available.
