King accepts an invitation to preach at First Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tenn. He gave a trial sermon at the church on 17 January 1954.

Dear Dr. Watson:

Your letter of November 19, 1953 was received and I was very happy to hear from you.

After carefully checking my schedule, I find that I will be in Atlanta on or before December 24, remaining through January 20, 1954. I will be available for a visit to the First Baptist Church in Chattanooga on the 1st or 3rd Sunday in January.

I want to express my highest appreciation to you for submitting my name to the Pulpit Committee for consideration.

Coretta and I are fine. My work is progressing very well. Please extend my best regards to Mrs. Watson and little Melvin.
