Go forward to TOEFL and GRE
Several sources of information exist on the web that might be helpfull to
you. A very good guide to american and canadian universities is
http://www.petersons.com which is
the online version of Petersons guide that is available from Amideast
(see below for info about amideast).
From its main page go to the
graduate study, this page contains usefull details for international
students and for the graduate application process.
Local sources of information include Amideast for american universities
and CIDA for canadian ones.
- Amideast is located in 23 Mossadek Street,
Dokki, Giza. Tel: 3378265,3542726,3378973 ; Fax: 3552946,3540896 ; Email:
egypt@amideast.org ; Home Page: http://www.amideast.org. It has a
library containig university catalogs and a lot of details about the
applications and admissions procedures. This office is also the place
where you go to register for the TOEFL and GRE exams since they are the
representative of ETS (Educational Testing Services) in Egypt. The site
of ETS on the web is http://www.ets.org.
It contains information about the different services provided by ETS
including a university admission guide as
well as the addresses of the ETS representatives all over the world. It also
has links to the TOEFL site (http://www.toefl.org) and GRE site
(http://www.gre.org) where ample details
and even sample test questions can be found.
- CIDA stands for the Canadian International Development Agency. The
location of this office changed a lot lately but finally stabilized in the
building facing the american embassy in America el Latina street, Garden
City. Stand with your back to the enterance of the embassy, you will see
facing you a building with a flowers shop, CIDA is the office just above
this shop. Like Amideast, CIDA has lots of university catalogs that you
may use. This office also presents a student counselling service (for
free) to guide you in your choices. The important thing that they do have
also is a LOT of scholarships for the francophonie. Those among you who
speak french will be most welcomed to study in Quebec (the french
speaking province of Canada).
Several web sites contain informations specific to certain disciplines.
For example if you are an electrical engineering student then the site
entitled `ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER
ENGINEERING ACADEMIC PROGRAMS' is good for you. If you are looking for
a physics department go to `Graduate
programs in Physics.'
