EV Goes to the Opera! "Don Carlos" Thursday, November 13th, 7:00pm San Francisco Opera House Eight tickets are available to EV residents for **Next Thursday's** performance of Verdi's Don Carlos at the San Francisco Opera. Email Christy (cmcbride@stanford.edu) by midnight this Friday, November 7th to enter the lottery. Winners will be notified by email on Saturday, November 8th. Please indicate whether you would like to request one or two tickets. You will need to provide your own transportation to the city -- and keep in mind, Don Carlos is a long opera (running time 4 hours, 30 minutes)! Tickets are for the rear orchestra, and with the EV subsidy they will be offered to residents for $35 each. Bharata Natyam Dance Classes Monday, November 10th, 3:00pm-5:00pm (first class) Roble Gym, Dance Studio Room 41 Interested in learning Bharata Natyam? or in continuing to learn Bharata Natyam? Classes for beginners and advanced students are offered as part of the student group Noopur, a new student group formed to foster the practice and awareness of Bharata Natyam, an ancient classical dance form of South India. The teacher, Katherine Kunhiraman, has trained at the Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts (http://www.kalakshetra.net/) and has established "Kalanjali: Dances of India", a premiere institution for Bharata Natyam in the Bay Area. The first session will consist of three classes, each from 3pm to 5pm, held on November, 10, 17, and 21st. The first hour of the class is geared towards first-time students, though advanced students are encouraged to attend to as a warm up/getting-back-into shape practice. The second hour is for those who have done Bharata Natyam before. After these three sessions, classes will resume at the end of January. However, optional weekly practice sessions will continue through November and December. Cost for the first 3 classes is $30, to be paid at the first class. Questions? Influenza vaccines also will be available for employees and retirees only at Benefits Fairs scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 5 at Tresidder Union and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Fairchild Auditorium. University employees, including retirees, will not be charged for the vaccine and must show a Stanford ID. Spouses and domestic partners can receive the vaccine at Vaden Health Center for $20. The cost for students enrolled in Cardinal Care is $10. Cost for students and spouses and domestic partners is $20.
