It could be described as a movie that appeals to the common experience of women all over the world. A movie whose themes would be recognizable by women from Albania to Zaire. Ladies' Night at the Movies is a great opportunity for women to enjoy a good movie in the company of other women (men are welcome too!), while enjoying freshly baked pastries and a glass of wine or two (tea, coffee and soda will also be provided). You can also chat about the movie afterwards. Cost: $1 to cover refreshments, to be paid at the door. MOVIE TITLE: ^ÓBEND IT LIKE BECKHAM^Ô Who wants to cook Aloo Gobi when you can bend a ball like Beckham? The daughter of an orthodox Sikh rebels against her parents' traditionalism by running off to Germany with a football team (soccer in America). Start the season with this all-around feel-good movie! Contact bukipapillon@yahoo.co.uk for more information. ------------------------------------------------------ THURSDAY December 18th Holiday Movie Matinee, Noon^Ö2:00pm ^ÔA Christmas Carol^Ô, Bechtel I-Center There is nothing for getting you into the holiday spirit like watching at least one version of ^ÓA Christmas Carol^Ô. In this timeless holiday classic, we watch Scrooge as he changes from a man of crass materialism and unkindness to a repentant soul pleading for a chance to change his ways. The simple happiness revealed in the lives of Bob Cratchit and others are as heart-warming as the forgotten mistakes and pains of a younger Scrooge are agonizing. No matter how many times you watch this movie, it proves itself capable of bringing a tear to your eye, a lump in your throat, and ultimately the very spirit of true holiday cheer that Charles Dickens intended it to convey. Sponsored by the Bechtel I-Center ------------------------------------------------------ SATURDAY December 20th Bechtel Holiday Gathering for International Families Lots of activities for everyone of all ages. We will all bring some food and snacks to share with other people. It will be fun! Contact Mina Pang if you'd like to help create this enjoyable occasion! She'll be at the Friday Coffee, or you can email her at minapang@yahoo.com. More details TBA (to be announced)!
