Like to sing in the shower? Drive your roommates crazy with
your tunes? Come and join us for the first EV/Rains (or Rains/EV,
depending on where you live) Karaoke night. Free BEvERages and
EANABS will be provided to lubricate your throat and add to overall
sound quality (you'll think it's better, anyway). Group songs

2. BIG GAME Tailgate!
Saturday, November 22nd, 12:30-4:00pm
Gordon Biersch Brewery, Palo Alto
Come join the rest of the fans at a local pub to watch the Stanford
Cardinal take on the Cal Bears in the annual battle for the Axe.
We will try to provide transportation, and drinks and munchies will be
subsidized. Bring your ID if you will be drinking. More details on

3. Volunteer Day at Sacred Heart Charities
November 26th, 3:00pm-6:00pm
Sacred Heart Charities, San Jose
Sacred Heart donates food and clothing to thousands of needy individuals
and families in the San Jose area, and also provides computer literacy
training and other job skills education programs. We will go there on
Wednesday, November 26th for food packaging and distribution. Our shift runs
from 3pm to 6pm. We will carpool from EV and go out for dinner afterwards.
As a plus, each participant will receive a >free< EV Community Service

4. 6th Annual GSC THANKSGIVING DINNER!!
Thursday, November 27th, 1:00pm and 4:00pm
The Marketplace at Wilbur Hall (on campus)
The GSC is hosting a fun traditional Thanksgiving dinner, open to all
students (grads and undergrads), faculty, staff, and their families. The
dinner will be a buffet-style, sit-down dinner with formal place settings.
The food will include roast turkey and beef, gravy, stuffing, and other
traditional side dishes, along with dessert and beverages. A vegetarian
option will also be available. Best of all, the dinner is entirely FREE to
all Stanford community members! Seatings will be held at 1:00pm and 4:00pm.
There are a limited number of seats available, so you must register by
November 23rd to guarantee your place.

Volunteer to supervise the event on Thanksgiving Day! You will help us
to check student IDs and direct students to tables. The work is easy,
and each time slot is only 45 minutes! To show our appreciation for
your assistance, we will enter you in a lottery to win a gift certificate
from the Stanford Shopping Center. You can also join both dinner seatings
on Thanksgiving Day.
There are five slots available:

5. Thanksgiving Pie & Cider Night

Bechtel I-Center Assembly Room
You are invited to a "Pie and Cider" Night in the Assembly Room at
the Bechtel International Center on Thursday, November 27th. It will
be a relaxed and convivial evening spent enjoying various types of
traditional American pie, washed down with generous helpings of cider
and other drinks, and many different flavors of ice cream! Throw in all
sorts of Thanksgiving-themed games, and you'll have an evening to remember.
As part of the festivities, feel free to bring a game, cards or anything
that you would like to share with other people. This event is FREE.

6. The Nutcracker at the SF Ballet
Saturday evening, December 13th
San Francisco Opera House

7. EV Clothing Drive
Friday, November 21st-Saturday, December 6th
Your local EV laundry room
Support Your Community by Donating Your Clothes!
Starting on Friday, Nov 21st, until Saturday, December 6th, EV will be
collecting clothes at your local laundry room. All clothes will be donated
to low-income residents of Stanford's neighboring communities.
All clothes in wearable, clean condition are welcome. Warm coats, men's
clothing, shoes (please put in a bag), and clothing in large sizes are
especially needed.
We will deliver donations on December 6th to local charities for
distribution.
Look for the collection boxes and fliers in the laundry rooms!

8. Join Stanford/Palo Alto Rotaract!
Interested in Rotary? Join the new Rotaract (Stanford/Palo Alto)!
Rotaract is the young Rotary, for people between 18 and 30 years old. For

Rotaract is an excellent way of serving the community and expanding your
network all over the world. Rotaract works in close contact with the
Rotary, therefore we already have international resources to start with,
both in contacts and activity advice. The club will meet twice a month for
about an hour, probably on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, as well as an
opportunity to attend other meetings and conventions. The upcoming meeting
will be the first week in December.

9. Immunizations at Vaden Health Center
-Influenza (Flu) vaccine

Call V-A-D-E-N (8-2336) to schedule an appointment.
The Flu vaccine costs $20 for students ($10 for students
with Cardinal Care) and is effective for 1 year. The
Meningococcal vaccine costs $80 (not covered by
Cardinal Care) and is effective against meningitis for
3 years.
Influenza vaccines also will be available for employees
and retirees only at Benefits Fairs scheduled from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 5 at Tresidder Union and from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Fairchild Auditorium.
University employees, including retirees, will not be
charged for the vaccine and must show a Stanford ID.
Spouses and domestic partners can receive the vaccine
at Vaden Health Center for $20. The cost for students
enrolled in Cardinal Care is $10. Cost for students and
spouses and domestic partners is $20.
The vaccine will not be given to individuals with severe
colds or other infections or who have an allergy to eggs.
Pregnant women will require medical clearance from an
obstetrician.

the common experience of women all over the world. A movie whose themes would
be recognizable by women from Albania to Zaire. Ladies' Night at the Movies is
a great opportunity for women to enjoy a good movie in the company of other

(men are welcome too!), while enjoying freshly baked pastries and a glass
of wine
or two (tea, coffee, and soda will also be provided). You can also chat
about the
movie afterwards. Cost: $1 to cover refreshments, to be paid at the door.
