Snowmass Workshop- Enabling Realistic Pathways & Actions to Climate Goals

Workshop Objective: This 3-day workshop seeks to exchange perspectives on (day 1) the definition and use of climate goals and what would make transitions implied by the goals broadly wanted, (day 2) the wide range of pathways to climate goals and what makes them more-or-less probable, and (day 3) policies and actions to reach climate goal and what areas are outpacing or lagging-behind pathways.

EMF 37: Deep Decarbonization & High Electrificatio  Scenarios for North America

The EMF 37 study was initiated to help model builders and model users better understand the potential role of electrification in economy-wide decarbonization pathways in important economic sectors—transportation, buildings, and industry. Much of the deep decarbonization literature points to the decarbonization of the power sector followed by the...

EMF 36: Carbon Pricing After Paris (CarPri)

The EMF 36 study investigates how the Paris Agreement on greenhouse gas emission reductions can be reached through climate policy measures by means of more stringent carbon pricing. The starting point of the analysis are the national climate action plans submitted to the Paris Agreement by individual countries (the so-called Nationally Determined...

EMF 35: Japan Model Intercomparison Project (JMIP) on Long-term Climate Policy

The EMF 35 JMIP study will investigate into the role of technologies in the long-term climate policy and energy strategies of Japan. It will address the impact of key technologies such as renewables, nuclear power, and carbon capture and storage in climate mitigation pathways, and examine economic, environmental, and social implications. The study will contribute to...

More integrated North American fuel and power markets will drive energy decisions not only within Canada, Mexico and the United States but also internationally. This EMF study will be closely coordinated with a framework for trilateral consultation and sharing of energy information initiated by leaders from Canada, Mexico, and the United States...
