Welcome...Under Construction

The house at 375 Campus Dr, Stanford CA 94305, was built in 1964. Or at
least, the blueprints I saw once were dated 1964. It was a frat house
for most of its life. Some of our deliveries still come to the "Phi Psi
House," although no one seems to know when Phi Psi came or left. Most
recently, the house was occupied by the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, who
lost the house around 1991 due to insufficient membership. ADP Stanford
has since become a non-fraternal co-ed literary and recreational society,
and still maintains an unoffical presence in the house.
When Alpha Delt left, it was decided to make the house into a co-op.
(Meaning student-cooked, student-cleaned, and student-run, and a whole
lot more...) The way I hear it, the future managers of the co-op submitted
to the University a long list of ridiculous possible names for the co-op,
most involving drugs or other illegal activities. As a joke, the name
"The Enchanted Broccoli Forest" was included somewhere near the end (it's
the name of a famous vegetarian cookbook by Mollie Katzen, one of the
founders of the Moosewood Collective Kitchen in Ithaca, NY). For some
reason that name was acceptable to the Man, and it's been painted on our
sign ever since.
EBF is now in it's seventh year (we think) and going strong...
