Conflict Management and Negotiation Skills
Conflict is a natural, recurring part of the
human experience that is evident in relationships between individuals and
groups, as well as among nations in the international system. Modern
world history is filled with the tragic consequences of major, worldwide
conflicts, and classrooms frequently mirror the ethnic, racial, religious,
and/or socio-economic tensions that exist beyond the school in adult society.
To develop classrooms characterized by trust and mutual respect, the project
prepares participants to use a variety of skill- and community-building
exercises with their students, as well as to utilize communication and
negotiation strategies in conducting an international negotiation simulation,
the project's culminating activity for students.
