Research Interests
I am interested in the possibility that HCO3- passes through the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) and modifies the extracellular pH.  To answer this question, I have used cultured epithelial cells and evaluated changes in pH, Isc and membrane properties.

I also have an interest in cellular maturation/differentiation.  Ongoing studies are examining the question of whether transformed epithelial cells can be induced to behave similar to their native counterparts.  These studies involve a collaboration with Geron Corporation
