Here is a sampling of written literature on energy and the environment that we've found useful (not a comprehensive list).

The US Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration site has a wealth of data, including Energy in the US: A Brief History and Current Trends, with great graphs and text on energy use by source, by sector, etc. Also includes links on energy efficiency.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting both economic prosperity and environmental protection.

Donald R. Wulfinghoff, "Energy Conservation: An Overview for Information Professionals" reminds us that energy conservation is a key to our survival as a civilization. This critical guide by the author of the Energy Efficiency Manual presents a useful list of information sources on energy conservation.

The Alliance to Save Energy is a coalition of prominent business, government, environmental, and consumer leaders who promote the efficient and clean use of energy worldwide. Many useful links given.

Renewable Energy Critical To World's Future, according to a major new study produced by the World Energy Council.

A Strategy for the Hydrogen Transition and Natural Capitalism by the Rocky Mountain Institute's Amory and Hunter Lovins and business author Paul Hawken.

The Nuclear Control Institute is an independent research and advocacy center specializing in problems of nuclear proliferation, with a focus on "the urgency of eliminating atom-bomb materials (plutonium and highly enriched uranium) from civilian nuclear power and research programs."
