how a lack of diversity in the nation's newsrooms is determining
what issues the presidential candidates talk about - and what issues
they ignore. Find out why issues of great importance to many of this
nation's ethnic minorities are being disregarded by our presidential
candidates.
About The Guest Speaker:
Dawn Garcia has been a leader in diversity issues in the newsroom
and in newspaper coverage. Garcia, is a former Knight Fellow at
Stanford and has worked at the San Francisco Chronicle and the San
Jose Mercury News. She was a Pulitzer Prize juror in 1998 and 1999
and has taught journalism courses at San Francisco State University
and Hayward State University. Garcia is currently an adviser for
students in Stanford's Graduate Program in Journalism in the
Department of Communication.
