Contemporary Chinese Artists Encounter the West

For those of you who missed the preview, ASF members will have a
special tour guided by the coordinator and organizer of the
exhibition, Dr. Britta Lee Erickson.
Curator
Britta Lee Erickson, Ph.D., is an independent scholar and curator.
She has authored numerous articles, presented at conferences and
symposiums, and curated several exhibitions, including Word Play:
Contemporary Art by Xu Bing at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery in
Washington, D.C. In 2001, University of Washington Press, Seattle,
published her book about the art of Xu Bing.
Erickson received three degrees from Stanford University, in art
history and East Asian studies, and has garnered numerous academic
honors and awards. She serves as Editor at Large for ART Asia
Pacific (New York) and is on the Board of Advisors for Yishu
(Taipei), Asia Art Archive (Hong Kong), and the Ink Society (Hong
Kong).
Exhibition
A major exhibition with works by 12 noted, contemporary Chinese
artists, living both in and outside their homeland. Organized by
the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University

Hong Hao, Huang Yong Ping, Qiu Zhijie, Sui Jianguo, Wang Du, Xing
Danwen, Xu Bing, Yan Lei, Yin Xiuzhen, Zhang Hongtu, Zhang Huan, and
Zhou Tiehai
Visiting Artists
Artists Huang Yong Ping, Yan Lei, Yang Jiechang, Yin Xiuzhen, and
Zhan Wang will visit from Paris and Beijing for one- and two-week
residencies to create new works for the show.
