The WorkLife Office was established in 1989 through the tireless efforts of Dorthea Almond and Phylis Craig. Initially Child and Family Resources, WorkLife programs and services have expanded to meet the diverse needs of the ever changing Stanford community. A WorkLife trailblazer, Stanford was the first University to be named in the Working Mothers 100 Best Places to Work, and is a founding member of the College and University Work Family Association. Stanford has also been recognized for its Adoption Assistance program by Concieve magazine, and the Dave Thomas Foundation.
