The Stanford University campus offers a wealth of sightseeing and educational opportunities for groups, whether sponsored by a school, private tour company or non-profit agency. The campus is always open to visitors and groups can move around the public areas freely. If you are planning on visiting any specific departments or attractions or taking a student-led campus tour, you must plan ahead.
Groups arriving in buses are encouraged to print out a campus map showing bus drop-off and parking areas. This will facilitate more efficient passenger drop-off and pick-up so you can arrive on time for any scheduled events.
Possible Activities for a Group's Day on “The Farm”:
(Activities in italics require advance reservation.)
- Take a student-led walking tour of campus departing from Memorial Auditorium. To arrange a tour, please review our Private Group Tours policies, rates, and contact information. Once you have arranged a tour time, our Private Tour Coordinator can suggest how best to coordinate the tour with other activities. If no private tour is available, you can pick up self-guided tour maps at the Visitor Center, located in Memorial Auditorium.
- Visit the Hoover Tower Observation Platform. Groups of 10 or more receive a 50% discount on admission. Tickets can be purchased by the group coordinator at the Visitor Center, located in Memorial Auditorium across from the Tower. If you have a large group, plan to spend about an hour at the Tower. The Platform and elevator have maximum occupancies and it can take time to get everyone up and down.
- Enjoy lunch at Tresidder Union, which features several eateries and large indoor and outdoor seating areas. Visiting educational groups wishing to eat in a campus dining hall can purchase meal tickets in advance from Dining Services.
- Visit our athletic facilities
- Visit the Cantor Center for the Visual Arts and the adjoining Rodin Sculpture Garden
- Stop into the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion
- Venture out to the Mausoleum, Angel of Grief and Cactus Garden
- Tour the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC)
- Spend a day at the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve
