PWR Celebrates the National Day on Writing

PWR celebrated the National Day on Writing in the Hume Writing Center this past October 20 with food and readings. PWR Lecturer and Director of the Hume Writing Center, Clyde Moneyhun  and Hilton Obenzinger, Associate Director for Honors and Advanced Writing at the Hume Writing Center, both read excerpts from their own writing in progress.

Moneyhun read from a few pages of a memoir his father wrote toward the end of his life while Obenzinger read from a notebook of poems his father wrote when he first emigrated to the United States in the 1920s (excerpted from his book, Busy Dying).

Moneyhun also discussed the National Gallery of Writing website (http://galleryofwriting.org), "a virtual space where people who perhaps have never thought of themselves as writers select and post writing that is important to them," and encouraged writers at Stanford to contribute.
