Elizabeth B. Mullane earned her B.A. at Tufts University in Archaeology and Environmental Studies before switching coasts to do her graduate work in Archaeology at UCLA where she earned her M.A. in 2006. She received her Ph.D. in Archaeology at UCLA in 2009 where she looked at three very different ancient cultures (Megalithic South India, early 1st millennium A.D. Mississippi River valley, and Roman Britain) to determine if some practices we see in the archaeological record are due to human groups self-organizing.
Her research interests include comparative archaeology, complex systems, and cultural heritage. She has been fortunate to work in a variety of places and has excavated around the world in Armenia, Cyprus, France, India, Peru, Turkey, and the United States.
In her free time, Liz enjoys exploring local hiking trails, balcony gardening, good wine, and football.
