IHUM Fellow: Jesse Kauffman, PhD

Jesse Kauffman received his PhD in history from Stanford in 2008. His primary field of study is modern German history, but his dissertation research on the German occupation of Poland during the First World War led him to engage with Polish history and the Polish language. He is currently revising his dissertation, "Sovereignty and the Search for Order in German-Occupied Poland, 1915-1918," into a manuscript.

His primary scholarly interests include German political and military history, the history of war and society in Europe, international history, and German-Polish relations. Jesse first taught in the IHUM program in the spring of 2007.
