Dan has a PhD in philosophy from Stanford (2010) and BA's in philosophy and art history from NYU (2004). His research is in metaphysics and related issues in language and mind. He thinks a lot about the following questions. Are material objects like pencils just collections of properties like being wooden and being yellow? How do objects survive through changes in properties? What is it for an object or property to be fundamental? He is also interested in how we speak about objects and properties and whether we are just material objects ourselves. His work has appeared in the journals Philosophical Studies and American Philosophical Quarterly.
When not working, Dan enjoys music, comedy, and especially spending time with his family.
