Student Information

Stanford Students from Gulf Region
The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs is working to contact all Stanford students who may have been in the areas affected by the hurricane to see what assistance we can provide to them, including housing, financial aid and counseling. You can contact the Office of Student Affairs at (650) 725-1808.

Undergraduate Student Program
Stanford has offered admission as guest students to 36 undergraduates from universities affected by Hurricane Katrina. Approximately 27 of these students have accepted and begun arriving on Stanford University's campus for the Fall Quarter. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors from Tulane, Xavier, Dillard and Loyola universities will begin classes when instruction begins Monday, September 26. All of these students have been encouraged to join Stanford's freshman class and transfer students in New Student Orientation activities this week.

Graduate Student Programs
Stanford has developed an opportunity for academically eligible graduate students displaced from colleges and universities in the affected area to apply for one term as non-degree graduate guests. Students who are accommodated at Stanford can attend without tuition and student association fee costs. This program is also operated under the assumption that tuition will be paid to your home college or university and will be utilized there to rebuild.

To date, five third-year students from Tulane Law School began taking classes when Stanford Law School's term began earlier this month. Offers also have been made to graduate students in the Business School and the schools of Humanities and Sciences, Engineering and Earth Sciences.
