1989 Loma Prieta earthquake severly damages museum, which closes to the public

The Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 brought another wave of severe damage to the museum, and once again it was closed to the public. Despite campus-wide devastation, the university made a commitment to restoration and expansion of this important teaching resource.
