The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University [the University’s art museum] seeks an energetic, creative, results-oriented, and experienced professional to develop and implement the Museum’s family programs. The Family Programs Coordinator will report to the Curator for Education and work closely with the Museum’s education, visitor services, and public relations staff and volunteers to develop and expand programs and activities for family audiences at the Museum. This position will be responsible for engaging families throughout the Bay Area, and for managing the Museum’s programs for families, from concept to implementation.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Develop, design, schedule, and implement programs for family audiences, including: Drop-in programs, Family gallery tours, Family-friendly performances and programs, Quarterly family days, On-site activity packs, Interpretive materials for families
• Initiate, expand, and manage outreach efforts for family programs, including: Developing targeted partnerships with school and community groups to engage their family constituencies, Conveying and disseminating information on the Museum and its resources for families to community centers, libraries, schools, and other family service organizations
• Work with education and curatorial staff to develop family-friendly interpretive materials corresponding to the Museum’s holdings and priorities
• Coordinate and train volunteers to assist with program implementation
• Work with Membership staff to create special programs for members and donors
• Oversee the development of printed material for programs and for marketing purposes
• Assist with design and implementation of evaluations of family programs
• Staff all family programs as necessary and manage materials and supplies for family programs
• Assist in developing content for family sections of the Museum’s website, in collaboration with the Education and Communication departments
• Work with Development department staff to prepare grant proposals and reports to donors
• Shared departmental duties
• Other duties as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree (Master’s preferred) in art history, arts education, museum education, early childhood education, or a related field. At least three years full-time, paid experience working in an educational setting, preferably in museum or cultural arts education. Experience working with family and/or intergenerational audiences. Experience creating programming for diverse audiences. Familiarity with resources for Bay Area families . Familiarity with design and publishing
Grassroots marketing or public relations experience preferred
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team as well as independently
Highly organized, motivated, reliable, tactful, personable, cooperative, and flexible. Attentive to details and ability to work on multiple tasks. Ability to solve problems, resolve conflicts, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Computer- and AV-tech-literate. This position is full time and will require some flexible hours. Must be available to work some Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings.

STUDENT POSITIONS
Position Title: Outdoor Sculpture Maintenance Crew
This position reports to Manager for Collections, Exhibitions & Conservation at the Cantor Arts Center, and the Curator for the Outdoor Sculpture Collection (in addition to the Modern and Contemporary Collection at the Center). S/he will work with the Outdoor Sculpture Maintenance Coordinator and at times with Tracy Power, Objects conservator, for training and on large projects. You may be required to interact with university staff and contractors to obtain services and assistance (fencing, water, power, lifts, and other equipment as necessary), to review Facilities Operations Construction Updates in order to anticipate projects and events that might have an adverse effect on the Outdoor Sculpture Collection. In addition, your responsibilities will involve washing and general maintenance of the Outdoor Sculpture Collection. Duties include
MAINTENANCE OF COLLECTION: Washing with non-acidic soaps followed by rinsing; drying of sculptures after washing, rains, and sprinkler activity. General inspection of the condition of sculptures during weekly rounds (inspect for bird droppings, graffiti, and unusual discoloration); remove foreign material and trash found on or around objects.
RECORD KEEPING: Log maintenance activity in maintenance binder; become familiar with past treatments and reports on condition before washing sculpture for the first time. The records in the Cantor Center’s Registration Office are available to you.
VEHICLE/SHED UPKEEP: Drive and maintain electric Taylor Dunn sculpture maintenance vehicle; learn process of recharging. Keep it clean and stocked with materials, disposable camera, and tools. See that rags/towels are clean and washed. Purchase brushes, sponges, buckets, gloves, etc., or alert supervisor to material needs for purchase (Chem & Bio stores). Maintain an orderly storage shed. Communicate with irrigation department for assistance with hose connections. Communicate with operations and event managers when large projects will impact museum or other buildings on campus (e.g. Burghers of Calais in quad, Calder at Law School, Gates of Hell in Rodin Garden).
