Kathryne Young is a JD/PhD candidate in sociology and law. She received her B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University in 2001, and her M.F.A. in writing from Oregon State University in 2004. She is currently working on two major research projects. The first focuses on the relationship between social stratification and rights consciousness. The research draws upon legal and sociological frameworks, asking how people understand their constitutional rights and how these ideas develop, particularly in the area of criminal procedure. The second project draws upon TafollaYoung's participant- observation and interview research on Hawaiian cockfighting, and explores questions of place, identity, legality, and masculinity. |
