Slavic dept invites applications for an Assistant Professor position

The Department of Slavic Literatures and Languages at Stanford University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the primary area of Russian literature and culture. Candidates with a secondary interest and/or training in other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants must demonstrate versatility in teaching Russian literature and culture over the entire range of Russian history, near-native fluency in Russian and English, along with interest and experience in language teaching. Duties include teaching courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels as well as contributing to collaborative research and teaching initiatives within and beyond the department. The Department of Slavic Literatures and Languages belongs to the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages, an innovative consortium of departments that collaborate on curricular and research initiatives.

The appointment will be at the tenure-track rank of Assistant Professor (Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment) and will commence on September 1, 2009.
