Cultural Events

Through the generosity of Helen Bing, Burke Knapp, Leon Sloss and others, Stanford in Washington students have the unique opportunity to attend cultural events at much reduced prices. During the program, students may attend performances at the Kennedy Center, by the National Symphony Orchestra or the Washington National Opera, and an event at Arena Stage, or perhaps the Shakespeare Theatre or Ford's Theater.

Each quarter students visit Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, and partake of a traditional luncheon at Michie's Tavern. They also tour the civil war battlefields at Gettysburg, PA.

When possible the students are given a tour of the Capitol and other federal buildings. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many museums DC has to offer. During the quarter they may have the opportunity to hear oral arguments at the Supreme Court.
