ball gogglesSCRA was founded in 1962 by a group of Stanford faculty and staff who wished to develop community swim and tennis facilities, with the goals of fostering high standards of sportsmanship and promoting fellowship among faculty and senior staff. There were many new families living on campus due to the recent completion of the Pine Hill 1 housing area who were eager to enjoy this family friendly facility.

The pool, locker rooms, and clubhouse opened that year and the first two tennis courts were constructed the following year. Five additional tennis courts were added within the next several years. In the early years the club primarily operated on a seasonal basis with the pool open annually from April to October. In 1975 the club converted to year round operation, with both swim and tennis facilities, and related programs, busy in every season.

SCRA continues to be a family oriented, welcoming community for faculty and staff families. We pride ourselves on our wide variety of adult and junior teams and lessons in both swimming and tennis.
