Supplemental House Agreement for Student-Managed Residences
1999-2000

Welcome to OUR HOUSE. This housing agreement is a supplement to the University Residence Agreement, sets forth conditions of residency and is intended to clarify what the house expects of you and what you can expect from the house. Before you sign it, please be sure that you have received satisfactory answers to any questions you have about your obligations as a resident.

FINANCES

Each resident is liable for a pro-rata share of all costs incurred by the house. Below are estimates of quarterly costs for Fall quarter 1999 at OUR HOUSE

The financial manager at OUR HOUSE reserves the right to place a hold on the registration (transcript/diploma) of any student who fails to pay the quarterly house bill by the due date. The financial manager is responsible for notifying each resident of the house bill due date prior to the quarter which it is due.

Fines at the following rate will accrue if the house bill is not paid by the due date:

Exemptions/reductions to the board bill will be granted only when students successfully petition through the University Disability Resource Center (DRC) or are full time EAs at the Kennedy Kosher Co-op for religious reasons. An administrative fee to cover fixed and social costs may apply. Students are advised to talk with house managers, the DRC and the Assistant Director for Student Managment prior to accepting housing assignments which require each resident pay the house bill as stated above.

HOUSEKEEPING

As a resident of a student-managed residence you will assist, to some degree, in maintaining the house through house jobs. As a resident of OUR HOUSE you will be expected to volunteer (or be paid) for the following jobs:

KITCHEN

Along with the privilege of living in a student-managed house, each resident is responsible for making the student-managed kitchen a safe and healthy environment. Each kitchen manager will provide to residents information or training about the safe use and maintenance of the kitchen and kitchen equipment.

The meal plan at OUR HOUSE consists of:

In addition to prepared meals, each resident has access to the kitchen and snack foods 24 hours a day.

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS

In most of the student-managed residences there are room priorities given to the house staff as a form of compensation for the work they do for the house. In all of the student-managed residences the Resident Assistant (RA) room is designated by the University prior to the Draw. OUR HOUSE uses the following procedure for doing the room draw:

Housing Assignment Services (HAS) reserves the right to make assignments to University residences as recommended by the Disability Resource Center (DRC). This may impact the house room draw.
