Kitchen Inspection Protocol

The protocol for kitchen inspection is as follows:

  1. Ratings will be on a pass/no pass basis
  2. Inspections are random. Copies of the inspection form will be delivered to the Kitchen Manager's mailbox in the Row Office
  3. If the kitchen passes the inspection, the inspections will continue on a random basis
  4. If the kitchen does not pass, the Assistant Manager for Student-Managed Kitchens will return within 24 hours (for an "A" violation) or 48 hours (for a "B" - "E" violation), to re-inspect. The finding will be reported, in writing, to the Kitchen Manager via their mailbox at the Row Office
  5. If an "A" violation is not corrected within a 24 hour period it will be corrected by Dining Services and billed to the house
  6. All other violations not corrected within their required time frame will receive written warning
  7. Results of inspections and uncorrected violations will be shared with the Associate Director of Residential Education and the Assistant Director for Student Management. Appropriate action will be discussed
  8. Both the County Health Inspector and the Assistant Manager for Student Managed Kitchens have the right and responsibility to CLOSE any kitchen which is a health hazard until all violations are corrected.
  9. Continuous violations may result in the loss of the student-managed kitchen program
