The cables required to connect a computer to the network vary from computer to computer. Some may have an Ethernet adapter built in, others may require an external transceiver, while others still might need a PC (PCMCIA) card.

The cables required to connect a PC to the network vary from computer to computer. Some may have an Ethernet adapter built in, others may require a PC (PCMCIA) card.

To establish an Ethernet connection, you will need a 10 Base-T Ethernet patch cable.

Instructions

1. Follow the instructions for setting up the connection between your PC and the SmartPanel.

2. Plug one end of the 10 Base-T Ethernet patch cable (RJ-45 male to RJ-45 male, cat 5 UTP) into the jack, and the other into your PC's network card (your PC may also require an interface cable).

If the SmartPanel in the classroom you're using does not have an Ethernet jack, look around the room itself for a TSO (Terminal Service Outlet), usually the orange jack furthest left in a panel usually located near the SmartPanel.

3. Set up your PC's IP configuration for the classroom you're using.
